MLTA's Principles of Real Estate Law and Title Insurance is designed for individuals who want to learn more about what happens behind the scenes at a title insurance agency.  This class is a great comprehensive overview for new title professionals.

Topics include:

  • Process of a title order and title evidence 
  • Introduction to real estate law
  • Legal descriptions and public land records
  • Purchase agreements, contracts for deed, deeds and conveyances
  • Common encumbrances and liens
  • Title examination 
  • Closings 
  • Title commitments, policies and endorsements

Introduction to Closing is a one-day class designed to give attendees an overview of the closing process from Purchase Agreement to Policy. This class is best suited for new closers, aspiring closers, closing assistants, or other title professionals that have an interest in learning the basics of the closing process. Students are given a textbook which is organized by topic along with a corresponding PowerPoint presentation, used to highlight important concepts. In order to give students a true closing experience, the class includes a Mock Closing. A closing is acted out and it includes and explanation of title and loan documents. 

Pre-licensing Education
This course has been approved for 8 hours of pre-licensing education credit towards a Minnesota Closing Agent License.

Course Fees & Registration
MLTA members $75 (must be logged in to receive member rates)
Non-members $200
Fees include materials, a light continental breakfast, lunch, and refreshments.

MLTA's Day at the Capitol provides this opportunity and is one of the most effective tools we have to communicate the value of our profession and to share any concerns that may impact its future.

Participation in MLTA's Day at the Capitol is easy! MLTA will schedule meetings between participants and their state representatives, provide an overview of pertinent issues and share tips to ensure meetings are productive. All you need to do is register and show up! When the event concludes, we'll gather at W.A. Frost for happy hour and socializing.
